PAPER: April 9, 2012
Abstract: the authors are encouraged to submit an Abstract before submitting the complete paper, possibly by the end of March

Call for papers - InfQ 2012
Third Workshop of the Italian group on Quantitative Methods in Informatics
Lucca, July 5-6, 2012
organized by the Italian Group on Quantitative Methods in Informatics
(Informatica Quantitativa - www.infq.it)
co-located with the PhD Summer school "Future Internet and Global
Computing: Services, Architectures, Models and Performance Evaluation "
june 25 - july 4 http://gii-infq.lab.imtlucca.it/

The ever increasing complexity stemming from the integration of computer
and network architectures opens new interesting challenges to the
performance evaluation field.
The Third Workshop of the Italian group on Quantitative Methods in
Informatics (InfQ 2012) will be held in Lucca after the two successful
editions in Pisa (2010) and Lipari (2011). InfQ 2012 will focus on the
following themes:
- Future Internet (the Internet as a complex system, the Internet and the
economy, greening of the Internet, the Internet of things, new
communication paradigms);
- Global Computing (technologies and resource management, computational
and business models);
- New quantitative evaluation methodologies, techniques and tools; -
Monitoring and measurement of networks and systems.

The spirit of the event is an open workshop where young researchers and
PhD students can meet, share ideas and experiences among them and with
senior researchers. For these reasons, at least one young researcher
should be in the list of authors of each submitted paper. Participants can
also take advantage of the PhD summer school of the GII (Gruppo di
Ingegneria Informatica) that will be held in Lucca between June 25 and
July 4, 2012, immediately before the workshop.
The workshop accepts papers covering application and methodological issues
addressed through analytical models, tools, prototypes, simulators,
statistical analysis.
Algorithms, metrics and software oriented to improve capacity planning,
load characterization, availability, testing and management of new systems
and applications are welcome.
All the submitted papers will be peer reviewed by at least three referees.
All accepted papers will be available on-line on the CEUR Workshop
Proceedings site (ceur-ws.org) that does not require copyright release.
Hence, the authors can take advantage of InfQ reviews and feedback
received at the workshop to improve and submit their papers to other
conferences or journals. During the workshop, the TPC will select the best
papers that, after revision and integration, can follow a fast track
reviewing process for a selected set of journals, such as Real Time
Systems, Computer Networks, LNCS Tr. on Petri Nets and Other Models of
Concurrency, ACM Performance Evaluation Review and other possible journals
that are under consideration. The complete list will be published on the
InfQ web site (www.infq.it).

The workshop includes also a PhD defense corner where students can present
and discuss their dissertation research in a friendly and frank
environment. This corner represents an opportunity for senior PhD students
to evaluate their main results before thesis writing, and for young PhD
students to check the orientation of their research line.

Paper submissions will be handled through the EasyChair conference
management system.

Important Dates:
- Abstract submission deadline: March 30, 2012; (suggested deadline)EXTENDED
- Paper submission deadline: April 9, 2012; EXTENDED
- PhD defense corner abstract submission: May 11, 2012
- Authors notification: May 20, 2012
