######################################## INVITED SESSION ON SOCIAL NETWORKS - KES 2009 ######################################## 13th International Conference on Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems 28, 29 and 30 September 2009 Santiago, Chile (CFP Web Version: http://tk.cc.gakushuin.ac.jp/kes/) Session Scope Web-based communities, social networks, virtual communities of practice, and many others have experienced a rapid growth. These technologies are providing a new way for human interaction and collaboration never seeing before. Therefore, social networks analysis area has arisen as a way to understand and enhance these communities and networks of people. This invited session on "Social Networks" focuses on the foundations of social networks as well as case studies, empirical, and other methodological works related to the computational tools for the automatic discovery of Web-based social networks. The main topics cover the design and use of various computational intelligence tools and software, simulations of social networks, representation and analysis of social networks, use of semantic networks in the design and community-based research issues such as knowledge discovery, privacy and protection, and visualization. Generic topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Automatic discovery and analysis of Web based social networks * Intelligent visualization of social network analysis * Intelligent social network * Social network mining * Social networks and social intelligence * Web site clustering * Link topology and site hierarchy * Virtual and web communities * Security, privacy and trust * Computational analysis of social and organizational systems * Web-based cooperative work * Social network analysis of communities of practice * Network evolution and growth mechanisms * Network structure prediction * Information diffusion in social networks * Affiliation networks * Geographical clusters, networks, and innovation * Effects of network structure and dynamics on knowledge transfer and sharing * Intra- and inter-organizational networks * Online communities and computer networks * Computational models and agent-based simulations of networks Instruction for Authors Papers must correspond to the requirements detailed in the Instructions to Authors which will be placed on the Conference Web Site: The conference proceedings will be published and distributed by a major publisher, for example Springer. See the above web site for details. All papers must be presented by one of the authors, who must pay fees. Publication The conference proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag in "Lecture Notes in AI" as part of the LNCS/LNAI series. Extended versions of selected papers will be considered for publication in the International Journal of Knowledge-Based Intelligent Engineering Systems.
