Can PVS run on Cygwin / Cygnus

Cygwin (by Redhat) provides a Unix/Linux shell which has been able to
support a number of Linux applications on Windows machines. However,
trying to run PVS for Linux under Cygwin we got the error that 
"PVS 2.3 only runs under Solaris or Linux"

Has anyone succeeded in running PVS under Cygwin (or know for certain
that it cannot be done)?
